A Confirmation of Civil Unrest

I, NSK Diplomat, Congressman and Timekeeper, have answered “no” in IRWIN’s referendum regarding “An Apology for Modernity”, presented at the NSK State’s Venice Pavilion, for two crucial reasons.

1. once the NSK State shifts from art to politics, it by definition shifts from time to space, it forfeits its mastery over its infinite probablities and willingly collapses into the measurable present. Thus, the NSK State effectively ceases to exist

2. The apology is such an ultimate manifestation of #1, that I’m tempted to think it’s some trick; a Houdini disappearing act…But as long as that is apparently not the case, my answer remains “no” – however, that is not because I necessarily disagree with the contents of the apology, but precisely because, nuances (west, modernism, 1968) aside, the general sentiment expressed in it is something everyone can/would agree with, especially in the current zeitgeist of ‘artivism’ prevalent in biennales, documentas et al. It is turning our state from a mischievious, trickster fairy to an obediant, tame beauty queen.

My loyalty to the NSK State have always stemmed from trusting it to say and do what no one else says or does. With this apology, the NSK State loses relevance, and not gains any. It becomes assimilated. And then burns in a horrible flash, like a vampire native of the black star exposed to the blinding light of the transient.

I will not stand back and watch the NSK State loses its nerves.
