N$K: New Life for Old Money
by Charles Lewis on Dec.25, 2015, under Articles
On May 12, 2015, an event was held to mark the opening of the NSK: Kapital to Capital exhibition at the Moderna Galerija in Ljubljana, a retrospective of the first ten years of the artist meta-collective, NSK. The end of this period coincided with the end of Yugoslavia and the beginning of the NSK State – a virtual state, complete with passports, which they created. At the event on May 12th members of one of the constituent collectives, Irwin, handed out envelopes marked “N$K”, with a dollar sign. Simultaneously, thousands of miles away in New York, Laibach, one of the other original NSK groups, held a concert where these envelopes were also distributed. Both sets of envelopes contained a new state artifact: NSK State currency.
Third International NSK State Dacha
by nskstate.com on Dec.13, 2015, under Events, NSK State
The Third International NSK State Dacha will be held Saturday, December 26th 2015 at 8:00PM
The NSK State Dacha is an annual citizen-driven initiative and temporary sovereign zone in the central New Mexican Desert. NSK Citizens and guests are invited to spend a holiday evening in an old Norwegian style log villa located on Highland Hill, where it once overlooked tuberculosis sanitariums, a psychiatric asylum, and breathtakingly crimson sunsets. Hosted by artist david K., past events have included NSK-related projections and programming, exhibitions, and LAIBACH tribute musical performances.
This year the Dacha presents an interactive multimedia installation – Nationalist Sound Klinik – a collective of musicians and sound artists featuring members of Enemy Tone, Unnatural Element, and Wurm. The aim of Nationalist Sound Klinik is to address the human condition while critiquing political and media reaction to the atrocities occurring in Syria and the resulting refugee crisis.
Visitors without NSK State passports will be issued appropriate visa documentation.
Libations will be available (guests must be 21+).
ADMISSION IS FREE, BUT AN INVITATION IS REQUIRED
